Penis Implant Surgery

Men looking to enlarge the size of their penis tend to look in a variety of places in order to cure this problem. There are all kinds of scams that fill up email inboxes, promising three inches overnight. There are reliable methods of safely stretching and lengthening through the use of private devices. There are also a number of surgical procedures that can be performed to supposedly enhance that important part of the male anatomy. One such method of enhancement is penis implant surgery.

Two different types

There are two main different types of implants. There are inflatable implants and semirigid implants.

In the semirigid implant procedure, the doctor cuts open the penis and stretches the fleshy tissue that normally fills with blood when an erection is achieved. He then inserts the implants into this new opening. These implants cause the penis to be slightly enlarged and to remain in a semi-erect state constantly, never achieving full flaccidity.

The inflatable implants are more common, but far more difficult to actually implant - and they are more expensive. The procedure starts similarly to the semirigid implant, with a cut being made below the head of the penis, and the insertion of the cylindrical implants. However these implants are not firm on their own, but can be inflated with a pump that is actually implanted within the scrotum. There are two different types: the two-piece inflatable and the three-piece inflatable. With the three-piece option, a separate fluid reservoir is implanted in the patient's abdomen, while with the two-piece option, the pump and the reservoir are combined in one unit inside the scrotum. Of course, all pieces are connected with tiny hoses.

Drawbacks

There are major drawbacks to each of these procedures. With the semirigid implant, the penis constantly stays in a semi-erect state, as mentioned before. This can cause embarrassment in everyday situations when the patient's clothing fails to cover the erection properly. Some patients have also reported continuous pressure on the inside of the penis, which has eventually led to serious injury. Additionally, this procedure is permanent, meaning that no matter what goes wrong after the surgery, it cannot be undone.

There are also many drawbacks to the inflatable implants. As with any surgery, a patient takes on some risk when undergoing penis implant procedures. But the inflatable implants seem to offer more opportunity for mishap. The procedure for the inflatable implants is much more complicated than the semirigid implants, thus opening up greater possibility for error. Furthermore, with more connecting parts comes the increased possibility that something will break, causing even greater complication. The scrotum is more bulky and more sensitive to pain, and the price of the procedure is huge.

Finally, neither of these procedures are intended for cosmetic use. Both are intended for patients with severe erectile dysfunction. While some surgeons will perform these operations for men needing a boost in the size department, most in the medical field condemn it.

A better option

The best option for men looking to increase their penis size is not penis implant surgery, which is costly and dangerous. At-home devices are a much better alternative, are much more affordable, and are clinically proven to work.
